I'm several years a member of the WAS and the current secretary. I'm also sort of in charge of leveraging the web to get our message out.
An intermediate-level amateur.
Yes.
Almost everything: its historical significance, learning about the origins and ultimate destiny of the universe, the amazing and diverse objects we observe, and the joy and beauty of being out in nature - just people, a telescope, and the universe.
It's a skilled, talented, well-informed, and unfailingly entertaining bunch of people who have a lot of information and experience to share. There's enough diversity of background and knowledge that anybody can fit right in. And the observing! There's just no experience like seeing Saturn for the first time - or giving somebody their first look at a wonderful celestial object.

"Great photos! Would you and Rosa like a gallery on the WAS site? http://www.warrenastro.org/was/astro_photos/default.aspx

"Despite a few intruding clouds, we had a great time Saturday night too. We were out for about two hours, from 7 to 9, looking at the asteroid Vesta, the planet Mars, a pair of interacting galaxies, and other interesting objects."
"Probably not tonight - I've got some kind of bug, and I'm still not over it."
"I'm under the weather, and being outside for long periods of time doesn't sound like a good idea right now."
