Treasurer, 2010“ Ken's talk was an encyclopedic look at one of the most interesting astronomers of the 19th and 20th centuries, a man who single-handedly charmed and persuaded the richest men of his time into financing a scientific revolution as major as the computer age. The presentation was considerably longer than any other I've seen at the WAS. Trimming it would have been hard, but perhaps it could have been split in two. Still, my interest was held at all times. ” -

Ken's biography of Hale was certainly comprehensive and detailed. In addition to spearheading and fundraising for the construction of a series of five largest telescopes in the world, Hale was a first rate astronomer in his own right, advancing solar physics. This including the invention and building of a number of instruments for the task. Totally amazing and inspirational. Ken also managed to inject considerable humor into the presentation.
