The Warren Astronomical Society will participate in the Second Saturday Science: Astronomy event at Cranbrook Institute of Science. The event takes place from 1-4 PM on January 9. WAS members will be on hand to demonstrate to new telescope owners how to get the most out of their 'scopes. Also, if the weather permits, members with solar telescopes will safely show the Sun in normal telescopes with white light solar filters and in special Hydrogen Alpha-filtered telescopes.
Cranbrook does charge an admission fee, as well as a fee for planetarium shows. Learn more here.
“ I enjoyed seeing other members there and also meeting some new potential members. I was also able to observe the sun at the observatory. I didn't know the sun could appear so red! ”
