DESCRIPTION:Warren Astronomical Society\n\nThe Warren Astronomical Society 
 meets monthly on the first Monday of every month in the auditorium at Cranb
 rook Institute of Science.  We do a bit of club business early on\, then ha
 ve a major presentation usually put together by one of our members.\n\nJim 
 Shedlowsky\, former WAS treasurer and rockabilly legend\, will be presentin
 g a history of the Hubble Space Telescope's development\, deployment\, and 
 correction.  The Hubble wasn't a perfect success from the beginning\, but o
 vercame miscalculations and many problems to become one of the most success
 ful scientific ventures in human history.\n\nJim worked for 36 years at Gen
 eral Motors as a Vehicle Development Engineer/Manager specializing in Acous
 tics\, Noise\, and Vibration.  He graduated from U of M in 1960 with a degr
 ee in Engineering Physics and spent 2 years as an officer in the US army in
  Germany.  In his spare time he recorded music for Epic and Roulette Record
 s as a member of the "Skee Brothers" band.  His musical skills are still sh
